Engineering Scholarship Opportunity

*Attention all freshmen, sophomore and junior engineering Honors Scholars*

The Honors Program is the recipient of a two year, $1,500 per year scholarship to be awarded to an engineering student in the Honors Program. The donor has set the following criteria and, while she would like all of the criteria to be met, she is happy to have the scholarship go to a student who meets one or two of the following stipulations:

1. A community college transfer engineering student.
2. An engineering student (mechanical preferred) who is the first member of their immediate family to attend college.
3. A deserving mechanical engineering student.

If you qualify based on the above criteria (you will need to demonstrate proof), please provide the following materials:

1. An essay (two pages maximum) on why you have selected engineering as your major.
2. An essay (two pages maximum) on what it means to be a first generation college student.

You may send your essays by email to capuana@buffalo.edu or bring them to the Honors Office in 214 Talbert Hall by SEPTEMBER 13, 2006. Contact Dr. Capuana if you have any questions.

CURCA: Workshop Offerings for Undergraduates

The Center for Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (CURCA) in conjunction with a panel of esteemed colleagues from across campus, will be sponsoring a series of workshops aimed at promoting/assisting undergraduates as they navigate their way regarding research and creative projects. The workshops are a part of the Life Workshop Series and will be offered at the following times:

  • Wednesday, September 20th, 145A Student Union, 4:00-5:00 p.m., “Research Basics”
  • Tuesday, October 17th, 145E Student Union, 4:00-5:00 p.m., “Communicating Your Research”
  • Thursday, November 16th, 145E Student Union, 2:30-3:30 p.m., “Funding Your Research and Creative Projects”
