BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES PREVIEW VISITATION: October 18-20, 2007 Students who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences and traditionally under-represented in the sciences, are encouraged to consider the Biomedical Sciences PREVIEW Visitation at the University of Michigan. PREVIEW provides full funding for attendees (including travel, lodging and on-campus meals). Attendees will participate in a variety of activities and workshops involving faculty and current graduate students to learn more about U-M graduate programs, applying to graduate school, and student life.

LIFE SCIENCES FALL OPEN HOUSE: October 20, 2007 from 10am-2:30pm U-M invites all prospective students interested in pursuing graduate studies in the sciences (18 participating graduate programs) to attend our campus-wide Life Sciences Open House! This test will qualify people for membership into Mensa, the high IQ society. There are no restrictions based on age, sex, religion, etc., only a qualifying test score on a standardized test.
The Western New York chapter is very active, with parties, dinner meetings, and movie events. There are also leadership opportunities at the local and national level.

Duties include drafting press releases and other written communication, direct mail preparation, direct mail research and data entry, posting flyers on-campus, as well as general office work. Student assistant will report to the Director of Marketing. Skills and/or Experience Required:
Student assistants must have excellent written and vocal communication skills in English; familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Access; the ability to do research online; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently. Interest in design and marketing a plus, but not required.

This workshop will help students to realize the importance and impact of being involved in Undergraduate Research as well as providing helpful hints and tips in getting started.
It will take the form of a panel discussion with a couple students speaking about their experiences as well as faculty members (Drs. Zirnheld, Gregg and Bianco) providing their perspective.

The NYS Senate sponsors an undergraduate assistants program in Albany, NY. This year’s program runs from January 3 to April 23, 2008 and carries a stipend of $4,140.
