Type of Job: Part-time Internship
Position Title: Program Coordinator for Library-Based Family Program, Journey’s End Refugee Services, Inc
Position Description: Plan and implement a 12-week education program for refugee families in the city of Buffalo. Run on Saturday afternoons at the Niagara Branch Library, families will come together with community volunteers to work on a variety of educational and fun activities. The purpose of the program is to bring families together with the educational resources in their community, while raising community awareness of refugee issues by building friendships.
You will be responsible for assisting in the recruitment of volunteers, while also working closely with our Academic Coaches to identify families that can benefit from the program. You will match families together with volunteers, and oversee their participation in the program. You will assist volunteers in planning and implementing relevant activities, and also planning a large group activity for each week. You will be responsible for setting up materials prior to the start of the program, assisting participants during the program, and then cleaning up after the participants have left. After each Saturday, you will create a short summary and report of the day’s activities and participation.
Requirements: Ability to effectively use written and oral communication in a cross-cultural environment; Passion for working with children and families; Experience collaborating with community partners; Excellent organizational and communication skills; Attention to detail; Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast paced environment; Knowledge of refugee educational issues and the Buffalo Public School system; Literate in MS Word, Excel, Willingness to work as part of a team
Job Duration: 15 weeks, end of August through beginning of December

12-15 hours/week

Job title: Production Office AssistantOrganization: UB Center for the ArtsWage: $8-$9/hour, 10-15 hours per weekStart Date: August
Description: Act as the Production Office Assistant for the Center’s Media department. This includes duties such as creating/maintaining files and calendars; labeling tapes; copying; data entry; maintaining media library, tape logs and worksheets; creating/distributing schedules; transcribing tapes and give call times to crew. Conduct research projects such as finding contacts, photos and historical information. Also assist on a variety of media productions (live events, sports, promos/commercials, presentations, performances & for broadcast multi camera events). This includes advancing tech info for Bullseye, gathering releases and coordinating shoots with Producers.
Qualifications: Some office experience required and familiarity with Mac computers. A business, accounting, management, communications or media study background is ideal. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is a must. Candidates’ hours will be set during regular business hours Monday-Friday. Additional hours may be needed during nights and weekends.

The Research Assistant position offers exposure to wide range of skills that are critical for independent research. Most importantly it offers research experience in both the clinical and lab genres. Training is provided for each of the duties listed above. Hours are 9:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday though hours are flexible. It is a paid internship although specific details would need to be worked out between the candidate and the principal investigator depending on the hours that the final candidate could be available. The Biobehavioral Program (located on South Campus) is looking for an Honors Student to work as an Assistant.
Start Date: August 4, 2008
Duties: General office duties including typing and filing.
Assistance in preparing scientific articles, papers, reports, and presentations.
Involvement in scientific research, primarily through literature reviews.
Qualifications: Computer literacy, should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, reliable, and should be able to work independently.
Good organizational skills are appreciated.
