Big Ten+ Graduate School Expo

Registration is open for the Big Ten+ Graduate School Expo September 27-28, 2009.

Students will:
* Get an inside look at graduate school and the application process
* Receive advice about funding opportunities from National Science Foundation representatives and other experts
* Network with representatives from more than 50 of the nation’s top graduate institutions
* Attend a premier graduate school fair

This two day mini-conference is especially designed for students interested in graduate education in:
* Science
* Technology
* Engineering
* Mathematics
* Pharmaceutical sciences
* Other science-related disciplines.

The Big Ten+ Graduate School Expo awarded more than $30,000 in travel scholarships last year. Women and members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to attend.

Visit by representatives from the National Science Foundation

The University at Buffalo’s Honors College is hosting a visit by representatives from the National Science Foundation on the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program on Tuesday, September 15th.
The NSF GRFP will offer a session for undergraduate and graduate students from 3:30-5:00 pm in the Student Union Theater.

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowships are three-year fellowships for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees in the science, technology, engineering, or mathematics fields.
This fellowship provides an annual $30,000 stipend and a $10,500 cost-of-education allowance.  The NSF Graduate Research Fellowships are open only to individuals who, at the time of application, are citizens, nationals or permanent resident aliens of the United States.

Work Study Opportunity - University Honors College

To be eligible for this opportunity the student MUST have a Work Study Award letter.

Description:

  • General office work - filing, answering telephones, mailing (some large), copying, etc.
  • Work hours are flexible between the hours of 9-5, Monday to  Friday.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Must be accurate and dependable.

Office Profile:

The University Honors College has a staff of an Administrative Director, Academic Director, five Assistant Administrative Directors, a Graduate Assistant, and two secretaries. The Work Study student will report to the secretaries and receive work assignments from all staff members.
