America Decides:  The Issues and Dynamics of the 2008 Presidential Election

May 11-18, 2008

This conference will focus on the critical issues of the 2008
presidential election. College students will come to
Washington, DC to engage journalists, political parties, think
tank analysts, and candidates’ representatives in a series of
interactive sessions.

• Discuss the election with political insiders
• Examine the challenges facing political reporting
• Obtain an inside view of the new political blogs
• Understand the economic and foreign policy issues in depth
• Consider the roles that candidates’ base support and new
coalitions may play
• Review the Bush legacy
• Debate the role of gender, race and religion in contemporary
presidential politics
