Daffodil Days
Position Summary:  (150 hour commitment) 

Looking for individuals who aspire to be their own boss. This internship will give you experience with a proven model of Sales, Communications and Public Relations.

Responsible for successful market analysis and growth of annual American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days (DAFF) event, a high-profile large-scale fund- and awareness-raising campaign in the seven counties of Western New York with $240,000.00 expected income. Daffodils Days involves the active participation of more than 1000 corporations, hospitals, schools, and government agencies in addition to 150+ volunteers.

Each county manager will analyze previous years sales to determine what companies/markets to concentrate the sales efforts, assist in the recruitment of volunteers and coordinate corporate participation building larger market penetration. Great for anyone who is looking to a future in Sales, Communications or Public Relations.
¼br> Essential Functions:

Increase market penetration in the county by at least 20% through Press Releases, Web-Promotions and direct communication with past participants
Identifies and assists in securing corporations for participation and donations and underwriting
Ensures implementation of data collection for each county record
Works in a team environment to effectively represent the Society and its mission in the community
Some evening and weekend event participation required the week of March 10, 2008

Required Skills:
Proven success in sales, marketing and/or new business cultivation
Project oriented, dynamic, energetic, with demonstrated time management and multi-tasking ability
Experience recruiting
Strong knowledge of and relationships with large employers in the area
Proven interpersonal, verbal & communication skills, including telephone prospecting
Must be able to think strategically and execute detailed plans to completion
Strong constituent relationship management experience (build and leverage strategic relationships)
Computer literacy
Commitment to the mission of the ACS
