The SUNY Faculty Senate (comprised of faculty that represent all 64 state operated campuses) in conjunction with NYSERDA (the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) will be hosting a major symposium from November 12-14, 2007 on energy and the environment called “SUNY and Sustainability: Transformational Opportunities Exploring the Nexus of Energy, Environment, Economic Development and Education.
There will be representatives in attendance from major Environmental Engineering Companies, Energy Corporations, various SUNY Faculty, SUNY leaders from most of the campuses, the SUNY Chancellor, and prominent political figures. The pending keynote speakers include Governor Eliot Spitzer and Mr. Paul Tonko, NYSERDA President and CEO.
The conference organizers are looking for undergraduate students that have participated in research regarding these issues and invite students to submit proposals for their poster presentations. The deadline for submission of a proposal for a poster is OCTOBER 12, 2007.
This is a very unique opportunity as there are a limited number of people that will be in attendance at the symposium. For more information about the conference and possible funding to attend the conference if your proposal is accepted, please contact Erik D’Aquino in the Honors Office, 214 Talbert Hall or send an e-mail at edaquino@buffalo.edu.
