State Assembly Internship

Posted by admin on September 29, 2006 in Internships

The New York State Assembly Session Internship offers college students a chance to participate in state government and the legislative process and possibly earn college credit through a well-structured practical learning experience. The Committee awards a $4140 stipend to each Session Intern in the January to May, 2007 Internship. Applicants must be matriculated in a college degree program as juniors or seniors, NYS residents or attend a college in NYS. They may be from any major, and must demonstrate academic ability, intellectual curiosity and receive a recommendation from the campus liaison. The Assembly offers up to 150 college students an opportunity to get involved in state governments and gain firsthand knowledge of the legislative process. Interns complete a comprehensive Orientation and a course taught by the Intern Committee’s faculty. Interns are assigned research and administrative responsibilities in an Assembly office. For more information, please visit http://assembly.state.ny.us/internship/ Applications are due November 1, 2006.
