The Washington, D.C. – Sydney, Australia Internship Program
Posted by Jessica on October 28, 2009 in Internships
This program will begin in early January with a ten-day Washington, D.C. Seminar. In this academically intensive component, students will learn about the nation’s capital as a basis for comparison with their destination city. They will also begin exploring comparatively some key issues – the environment, immigration, and the like – confronting both societies.
When abroad during the remainder of the spring semester, participants will be in three to four-and-a-half day internships that match their academic and professional interests. Participants from this past summer were involved in a wide variety of internships: Greenpeace Australia, Hill Rogers Chartered Accountants, HIV/AIDS Legal Center, What Media Group and New South Wales Parliament Legislative Assembly, for example.
One of the two Sydney courses will focus on Australia – its government, politics and trade, especially – in the context of the Pacific Rim; comparisons with the US will be encouraged. The second will continue the seminar’s focus on experiential education, in which students will prepare a portfolio documenting, analyzing and reflecting on the semester’s learning.
More information is available online at www.twc.edu/internabroad or by email at Internabroad@twc.edu.
The application deadline has been extended to November 13, 2009.
