Undergraduate Research is a great way to round out your academic experience… As well as allowing you to complete Honors Experiences along the way!
Here are some resources that might help you:
1. The Research and Creative Activities Fund enables undergraduate students to receive grants of up to $5000 to defray expenses directly related to research and other creative activities. Go to http://honors.buffalo.edu/enrolled/research.php for more information.

3. Another great website is WegGURU, which is a Web Guide to Research for Undergraduates (http://www.webguru.neu.edu/index.php). It will walk you through the whole process, providing you with hints, tips, and ideas about how to get involved.

If you are currently considering adding a study abroad experience to your UB academic career, we strongly suggest that you attend this UB Study Abroad group advising session. We hope to see you there!
Claude Welch, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor, Political Science has three tasks in which an Honors College student might be interested. He is looking for help with 1] further development of his webpage, 2] potential preparation of a video presentation for YouTube, and, 3] for a student interested in international law, high-level research and footnote checking in connection with his current book, Protecting Human Rights Globally: Strategies and Roles of International NGOs. This book builds on several earlier studies of the activity and effectiveness of human rights NGOs.
Students may earn academic credit for this experience. If interested, please contact Professor Welch at cwelch@buffalo.edu or via telephone 716 645-8434 ASAP.
As you may know, UB hosts three interdisciplinary Undergraduate Academies: Civic Engagement, Global Perspectives and Research Exploration. The Academies are open to all UB undergraduate students. Students may participate in the Academies by registering for an Academy sponsored seminar, residing in an Academy Community, or by attending a variety of workshops, excursions and events. Students may get involved in a lot of Academy offerings or just sample a little.
The Academy’s fall series programming is designed to introduce students to various topics while providing opportunities outside of the classroom to further explore these themes. Information about these events and activities will be posted online at the Undergraduate Academies website: http://ubacademies.ning.com/events.

From Debi Street, faculty member in Sociology:
I have designed a UB Semester in London program that is geared explicitly towards meeting the needs of UB students who want to study abroad for a semester. The link to the program is
http://inted.oie.buffalo.edu/studyabroad/program.asp?prog=london&file=pro&img=pro_london.jpg&i=164
The internships available in London under the program are project-driven and present an incredible opportunity for students to work/live in London, with no hassles regarding the transfer of credits, etc. since this is an entirely UB program…it is as if they studied here in Buffalo insofar as academic work is concerned. Program costs include full time UB tuition, transportation (Zones 1 & 2 tube passes) and housing in London (shared flats), internship placements (6 credit hours), a very busy cultural program, two classroom based courses (6 credit hours), one independent study (3 credit hours), London airport transfers, etc. There are no additional fees for out of state students, so the program is quite a bargain for them.
