Discovering China: Short Study Abroad Program

The following is a short-term study opportunity that is being offered to SUNY students and subsidized by China.
Students (”student delegates”) will receive 1 credit (paid for at home campus). Students will each be expected to produce a portfolio of their trip for grades. Several SUNY faculty will accompany the group and grade the portfolios. The program will depart from New York and take place during the first two weeks of January (likely the 3rd-14th). The total cost will be about $1,200 per student.
The applicant qualifications are as follows:
1. Students should be in good academic standing at home campuses
2. Students should be prepared to articulate in an essay their strong interest in visiting China
3. There is no Chinese language requirement
4. Students should have never been to China before
5. Priorities will be given to sophomores
6. Priorities will be given to students who are taking China-related courses or are interested in taking China-related courses upon return
7. Academically excellent freshmen are welcome to apply as are upper classmen and graduate students
