As an Honors Scholars, you may be placed in higher-level courses, allowing broad flexibility in the creation of your academic program. If you begin college with Advanced Placement or other college credit, you may qualify for higher-level courses, allowing you more freedom in creating your academic program. Academically talented students often come to college seeking a broad undergraduate education and do not want to be limited to a specific discipline. The Honors College has designed a special major in the liberal arts (PDF) that allows students to define, explore, research, and begin to comprehend the many facets of the world around them.
As a UB student, you may draw on UB's 3,000 course offerings to design your own major. This flexibility makes possible such combinations and special majors as international studies/finance, criminology, and computer science/filmmaking.
Highly qualified UB students have the opportunity to enroll in graduate courses while they are still undergraduates. Such courses can be included in the undergraduate program of study or carry graduate credit.
Many departments have formal options to complete time-shortened, combined bachelor's and master's degrees.
Freshman students who enter UB with a high school average of no less than 93 and a minimum SAT score of 1350 or a minimum ACT score of 30 will be guaranteed admission to the university's School of Law upon:
No LSAT is required for admission.
Presidential Honors Scholars who intend to enroll in medical school upon graduation may be eligible for guaranteed admission to UB's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences when they are initially accepted to UB.
Students, who for three semsters maintain a minimum GPA of 3.7 overall and in the sciences and attained a score of 1400 or higher on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT exam while in high school, may be considered for a guaranteed spot in UB's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. You must still meet all undergraduate degree requirements.
Early assurance into the doctoral program in pharmacy is available to Honors Scholars in good standing.
UB's doctor of physical therapy (DPT) program assures admission to Honors Scholars who maintain good standing in the Honors College.
You may choose to enhance your undergraduate experience by spending a semester or year abroad, or by pursuing a double major or double degree.
