Successfully complete the Honors Colloquium in the Fall semester of your freshman year. The Colloquium is a two-credit course that emphasizes teamwork and community service learning.

Complete two Honors Seminars, one in each semester of your freshman year. These special seminars are offered on a broad range of topics and are taught by the university’s most outstanding faculty members. Each semester a new set of Honors Seminars are offered.

In the following three years, you will select and complete six Honors Experiences from the following list:

  • Undergraduate research or creative activity
  • Independent study
  • Internship or practicum
  • Study abroad
  • Undergraduate supervised teaching
  • Graduate coursework
  • Departmental Honors coursework
  • Departmental Honors thesis or project
  • Senior Capstone coursework
  • Double degree, a double major, or a major and a minor/certificate program
  • Contract Honors coursework

Satisfy the requirements of your major as well as the university’s general education requirements.

Maintain a 3.2 Grade Point Average (GPA) during your first year and at least a 3.5 gpa in each successive year to graduate with an overall GPA of 3.5.

To guide you in developing your unique Honors academic program, academic advisement is required during your freshman, sophomore, and junior years to ensure that you are making the most of your undergraduate education at UB.

During these advisement sessions, you will file an Honors College Academic Progress Plan, indicating the courses you have completed as well as the courses you plan to take to fulfill the Honors graduation requirement. The Honors staff will review this plan with you to make sure you are making progress toward your goals.
