Return the Performing & Creative Arts Scholarship application with your resume, which should include education, training, performance, and other theatre experience. Please submit an essay discussing your career goals and the experiences influencing you to elect a major in Theatre or Music Theatre. Address your strengths and your intended area(s) of interest - Acting, Music Theatre, Design, Stage Technology, Playwriting, Directing - and what you hope to gain from studying Theatre or Music Theatre at the University at Buffalo. We require an audition or portfolio review and interview.
Two letters of recommendation from people with whom you have worked in the past two years should be sent under separate cover. For Theatre, one of these letters must be from a high school teacher or professor. Music Theatre also requires two letters of recommendation to be sent under separate cover. One must be from a teacher and one from a theatre professional such as a director, dance or voice instructor. Include addresses and telephone numbers of references.
Music Theatre requires performance auditions in all three disciplines - dance, music, and acting. Complete Theatre and Music Theatre audition requirements and information can be found on our website.
